A simple question that has been running around in my head for quite a while, will social networking websites one day kill off the forum world or will forums always be around in some way? Discuss.

I guess forums will exist all the way till the dooms day.
The community feel is simply awesome on forums compared to social networking sites, which has more spam and no real place for a community to show interest and actively participate in almost all the areas. Social Networks has surely covered all the interests but the people are different in all of those communities. So it doesn't have that real community feeling!

Forums and social networks serve two different purposes. A forum is about communicating with others and coming to solutions. Social networks are more about updating friends and telling others what you're up to.

Social Network is there for quick communication and just small talk.

Forums are for well thought out discussion and are just all around more fun!

I don't think so. They are two different platforms. People are most interested in social networking these days, but forums are never ignored.
