I noticed a lot of people being put off by places like Facebook and X and Reddit because of the toxic nature of having too many people coming together that don't agree. I don't think this kind of diversity is healthy or helpful on or offline because some people just can't agree to disagree and live their lives.

With that being said, do you think more people will seek out forums again because of this?

I don't see that happening. I believe social media platforms will continue to grow bigger and the forums will continue to lose userbase. One of the main reasons why forums are not gaining users is because forums offer limited possibilities for sharing content and gaining exposure compared to social media platforms.

This is not going to happen cause the aforementioned are two different platform and due the fact that forums have their own niche for in-depth discussions and community engagement, while major social platforms offer broader reach and diverse content.

It's possible that forums may continue to be popular for certain specialized interests and discussions, but major social platforms are likely to remain widely used for general social networking.

Unfortunately unless if every social media platform were to go under, I don't think forums will ever overtake Facebook, Twitter, etc. People want quick access to posts, and forums don't tend to keep most people's attention anymore it seems. There's also servers like Discord and Guilded that have been taking the spot of forums too.

It is the exposure part that forums are lacking. The challenge is simply on how they run ads about their forums. One can't tell me that it is very easy to run ads as it involves a lot of money, and not every forum owner can be able to do that.

You see if I spend $10 on facebook ads, I can reach 10 thousand people within minutes. However, by spending $10 on ads on forums, I might not even reach 1000 people. One of the main reasons why people use social sites is because of exposure. The biggest forum I have ever seen is reddit, you can compare with facebook and find answers to why more people use facebook compared top reddit.
