Do you set up automatic welcome thread creation for new members?

I have noticed on some forums where it's set up by the administrator to have a welcome thread created automatically by a plugin whenever a new member joins the forum.

I don't really think that it's necessarily important if you have an introduction section for new members to introduce themselves. It's a waste of effort or resources.

What do you think?

Well, I don't have that feature on my forum and I am not sure if I have been a member on any forum where a plugin automatically created a welcome thread on my behalf.
