Do you seek advice from a dentist when selecting toothpaste?

I used to routinely buy toothpastes like Colgate or Aquafresh, but I was told not to buy these toothpastes since they are dangerous after seeing a dentist. In just a few weeks, I noticed a difference after following the recommendation to purchase somewhat pricey toothpaste from the pharmcy

No, I take a cue from ads on TV and if I like the toothpaste I will be using it. I have been using the same brand for many years
