Do you run contests on Facebook or Twitter?

I've seen some really nice contests on both Facebook and Twitter, such as 'Like us and get entered into our contest' or contests where you submit something original like a photo essay or video about a product. Seems like a really interesting way to get people involved on a social network. What are your thoughts on this? Have you ever run contests on a social networking site? And, if so, what was the contest about?

That depends on the niche I believe. There was a time when I thought about a contest and asked if I should conduct on my page, only very few people were actually interested.
I hadn't bought even a single like at that time. But if the niche is more tech oriented I guess you're right, people will be interested to participate!

I had some contests too. "the x th person who likes this gets a free autograph from Elvis", or stuff like that. I know I can't call them actual contests, but they were pretty successful.

That's why I mentioned that I can't call it an actual contest. I have an entertainment site, with loads of funny stuff, so this matches with my articles.
