Site Management Do you like profile pics on the left, right, or top part of the reply or thread starter?

In phpBB, they are on the right by default, but a mod will put them on the left. Of course, this is referring to the view from a PC.

I have gotten used to them on the left and when I see them elsewhere it seems off. Those that are at the top of the post give the appearance of interrupting the discussion flow to me.

I prefer to have the avatars be on the left rather than up top of each post or to the right. Most forum software has this layout by default, the only two that I can think of off the top of my head that do things differently are MyBB and phpBB. Heck even Reddit has avatars to the left of a person's username.

There's a free mod to move the profile back to the left on phpBB. But what's wrong with something different?

I would have to say on the left is where I prefer to see the profile pictures or avatars on a forum. Over the years of using forums, I have always known them to be on the left-hand side and only a few times have I seen them at the top or on the right-hand side.

I'd love to see them and the user information on the right for a change.

That would give members and instant focus on the content if they read left to right like most of us are doing.
