Something I have known to see around communities in the past but do not see too often has been Christmas contests. These kinds of contests are always fun to host around Christmas.

With so many different prizes you could offer and ideas for the contest around Christmas, it's never been a better time to host a contest during the festive season.

Do you host Christmas contests?

I'm hosting my first ever forum decoration content on AAF. Not a lot of people are participating. Not sure if I'll do it again after this one. That's okay though. I'm merely experimenting with different forum contests to figure out which ones are best.

However, I do love Christmas, so I'll try to do some kind of Christmas event each year.

This is a great idea, also gives your community a chance to show off their work and that is always a great thing!

Trial and error is a way of learning what your community is interested in and what they are not, most will say not many people entering a contest is a failure but I see it as a learning curve and something to look at to see what you can change in the future.

It really is.

Like the other discussion about failures being a learning experience.

Trial and error is how we grow as admins. I don't like to call myself a forum expert. I get imposter syndrome over it, even if people say I am and treat me like one. Instead, I like to say, "This is how I do it, and it's successful for me, and I want to show you how." That feels better in my brain, haha. But with that being said, trial and error is how we grow, and even those of us who are well-versed in forums still have plenty of room to grow.

So, bring on the trial and error and the failures, and I'll keep on growing and getting more experience. :)
