Do you have a section in your online community exclusively for adult discussions? How do you keep the underage members out of said section? Do you rely on a warning message, such as 'do not access this section if you are not 18+ years old'? Do you password-protect it and require members' ID to give them the password?

I do not. As you said, it can be a pain to keep underage members out of it, and it would probably be tough to get any real activity from it. Most VIP sections I'm in are inactive, and I'm pretty sure if you started asking for IDs, the sections would go from inactive to a ghost town pretty quick. Also, some hosts Don't allow that type of thing on one of their hosted forums. :p

I don't do this on my forums because I prefer my forums to be accessible to people of all ages. There are plenty of other places on the internet for "adult" things. :p

I do not do that, as... well, I doubt such a section would get much activity on my community at any rate, and because, like John123 said, many hosts - including mine - do not allow "adult" content. If I were to create a section for that type of discussion, however, I would simply have a notice on the specific forum warning users that said forum contains adult content. At that point, it would be their choice so as to whether or not they entered the forum.

A warning saying that you must be eighteen years or older to enter is sufficient. Just ask every "adult" site on the internet. :yum:

I do not have an adult section on my forum. My forum is for advertising and helping other web masters who need assistance. If you want to start a separate section then you will need to create a forum which not everyone can see. Go to each members profile and check if they are 18+ years old and then grant access to them, this one way but there is no guarantee as they might have provided wrong age.

I think it depends on where your hosting company is located. The laws of some countries don't allow websites to provide adult content to anyone without a fee, and you have to pay a certain percent of said fee to said country's internal revenue service.

I do not have an adult section. I tried to keep my forum child friendly as I knew there were some young people on my forum. If I was to create a adult sub-forum (which I probably I never will), sounds like a good plan to put a warning up saying don't access unless your 18 years or older.
