Do you have a shoutbox?

A shoutbox, also known as a chatbox is where members can instantly communicate rather than responding to one another in a topic. Is this something that your forum or blog uses? Some owners prefer not having one, as it may prevent activity from developing on the website at hand. What are your thoughts on this?

I used to use shoutboxes or chatboxes as they are known to some years ago on older forums but I always found they took away from the activity on the forums and I stopped using them.

For some forums it may work but for others, the chatbox tends to end up being the place where everyone interacts and that never helps the forum.

I don't use a shoutbox on my coding board. If it were a general discussion board, I would consider it, but I prefer chit-chat threads over shoutboxes.

I do not have a shoutbox on my forums and I do not like this feature. I believe all discussions should be done in the main forums and not through shoutbox.
