I can remember the last company where I worked as the company's manager, my boss barely comes to the company. He's 95% managing the business online through out staff's communication channel Slack. It's one in a while he comes to the office. It got to the point where some of our customers thought I was the business owner.

I have been employed in a company whose boss rarely used to visit the company and the majority of the affairs were managed by the managers and seniors. I think that bosses should occasionally visit the office in order to check things and this is quite important if you are running the business.

I once had a boss, who rarely came to the office. People mistook me for a business owner. I was the manager and I handled everything. I needed the boss just to sign checks. Not having someone to boss around helped me to work more efficiently and productively.
