Do You Have a Blog Section on Your Forum?

I own three forums and I have a blog section on two forums. I added a blog in order to improve search engine traffic. Since forum posts do not allow much room for SEO, I added a blog so that the forum can build organic traffic. Because of blog posts, I receive traffic from Google (it is very small though). Do you have a blog on your forum?

I don't pretend to be an SEO expert, but Google isn't going to prioritize your site just because you have a blog over forums. Google is very good at identifying information, regardless of how it is structured.

You shouldn't "add a blog" to improve search engine traffic. You should focus on building authoritative, expert solutions (whether in the forum or in the blog), which will be rewarded by additional traffic.

On one forum that I co-own and another I help run, we have blog sections in which we add blog content to help with building up content on the forum.

One thing I do know about SEO is that high-quality and informative content is the way forward and that is what I try to add to those forums to help with that.

I agree. However, the problem with forum is it is user generated content site and when the users are generating content, they do not always produce SEO content. However, when you add a block section, you can hire writers to publish SEO content, or if you have skills, you can do it yourself.

What's a blog has got to do in a forum? If you want a blog, you can create a separate website. Why mix a forum with a blog. Forum is good for short posts, blog is for longer articles. Do you think your users will create long articles for your forum?
