Discovering New Music

How do you discover new music? Do you seek out "Today's popular songs" or do you follow someone on social media that shares the latest news for music...

I always struggle with finding new music now a days since I do not go seek out CDs anymore. Does anyone else have this struggle?

As you know, you can select a band you like on Pandora and it plays similar songs with different artists, that's one way. YouTube Music also recommends songs and playlists based on what you listen to.

I like to go about it by looking into genres I have never listened too before. I have the belief that there is good music in just about every genre.

Classical, Punk Rock, Goth Rock, Thrash Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Pop, Ska, EDM, Darkwave, New Wave, Psychobilly, Jazz, Techno, DubStep... the genre list goes on and on and on..

There is awesome music to be found in them all .

I look at music similar to what I listen to on Youtube. From there I'll give a new album a listen and if it clicks with me I'll continue listening to more of that artist's stuff. That's how I discover new music, either that or my spouse introduces me to new stuff.

I never try. The only new stuff I heard is from this band from Florida whose lead guitarist is from my old high school. That's the only reason I know about this recently signed band.

What I notice when I go to Youtube it just plays older music, or music I've previously listened to. I've attempted Apple Music and Spotify and play new music, but I don't always find much in the genre I always enjoy. Perhaps they don't make music lol.

Tiktok has also helped because I find people who create music or playlists and it has some good new music!
