Not All Peoples know about all types of web hosting services available today. Most of them look for cheapest and most affordable hosting plan nd basically pick a shared hosting plan. However, depends on customer (private person or business company) they should look for best fit, before anything else
So, here are all existing types of web hosting services:

# Shared web hosting
# Dedicated web hosting
# Colocation Web Hosting
# Reseller Web Hosting
# Virtual Dedicated hosting
# Could hosting
# Managed Web Hosting
# Grid Hosting
# Exchange Hosting
# Domain Hosting
# Email Hosting

All These hosting types can be hosted on different operating systems.

* Linux or Unix Operating System
* Windows Server Operating System.

Can you maybe provide a quick summary of what each is? I'm a bit of a hosting noob so I'd like to know what each of these are and which is best.

Thank you for sharing these information, i started to catch some of what i read about it.

I use to be confused on what the types of hosting packages were, such as "shared" or "retailer". But after a while I just but two and two together and figured it out. ;p

Also, usually retailer is a horrible plan to get. :/

Shared Hosting:
Shared hosting is a type of Web hosting service that allows multiple websites to share a physical Web server and its resources among the hosted websites. Shared hosting logically distributes a Web server to accommodate, serve and operate more than one website.
Dedicated Server:
A Dedicated Server is an Internet hosting option in which a physical server (or servers) is an Unmanaged Dedicated Server to a single business customer. The customer has complete control over the machine, so they can optimize it for their unique requirements, including performance and security.
VPS(Virtual Private Server):
A VPS, or virtual private server, is a form of multi-tenant cloud hosting in which virtualized server resources are made available to an end-user over the internet via a cloud or hosting provider. Each VPS is installed on a physical machine, operated by the cloud or hosting provider, that runs multiple VPSs.
Reseller Hosting:
Reseller Hosting in simple terms can be said to be a hosting service where you, the reseller, rent out your services to your customers, in turn, earning a profit. These web hosting services include server bandwidth, CPU, disk space, RAM, etc.

All these Webhosting services provide 10GB Hosting. It is a UK-Based web hosting provider and its dedicated server are in UK, USA, and Europe.

I do not want to burden myself by overloading information. I know shared hosting, and I know it is the lowest priced hosting packages and suitable for small and moderate sized websites.

I have been running websites since 2015, however, I have never heard of something like Colocation Web Hosting, Grid Hosting, Exchange Hosting, or even # Domain Hosting. Can anyone explain to me what exactly are these hosting/

Types of hosting are many but I will mention just few that I know very well for now.
1.Dedicated server
2.Cloud hosting
3.Shared hosting
4.VPS means Visual Private Servers
