With XF, Askimet is a bigger pain in the posterior than it's worth. It caught to many false positives even on my low activity site.
I'm sure a large number of those crypto scam accounts already have listings in SFS.

When I started running wordpress websites, I was using Akismet. Some of my older sites still use it, but I have stopped using on my newer sites as I found out that it does not help much. Registration is not open on my sites and comments need to be manually approved. So, I do not use Akismet these days

Askimet isn't for everyone. I didn't sign up on Askimet because it's not needed for any of my works. Though I have seen people making use of it to prevent spamming.

Akismet is used more on blogs if I'm not mistaken because I can remember seeing it popping up notifications on blogs whenever I make posts there especially if it's my first time posting on the blog.

Exactly my observations too. I haven't seen it being used on forums since I started but when it comes to blogs especially WordPress blogs, they are very commonly used by the blog owner to combat spam.
