Do you believe that DDoS protection is effective - software firewall / hardware firewall / 1Gbps.
Are there many webmasters who use it?

I am very much against these kind of things. They rarely work, and if the hacker doesn't have one way, he'll find another way (Such as XSS or SQLI). Try to not become a targeted site by staying slow and not spamming other sites with ads and all, and you shouldn't be hacked.

At the moment, I don't own a website. However, the last free-forum I owned had DDoS Protection. I think it's important to have protection because you could receive a DDoS Attack during the time that you own a site.

There are many ways that hackers use to hack websites. I don't think ddos will be important because if a hacker don't find success in one way he then go to another.

There are some webhosting sites that really offer you ddos protection and have some good protection. you just have to know where to look and pay a little more.

When the attackers really want to take your site down, there is nothing that can stop him, no matter hat kind of software you are using to protect your site. You might try Cloudflare, though.
