I wonder what is your approach to DDoS protection?
Do you prefer using all-in-one services from your hosting provider or that is better for you to have DDoS protection as the service.
Last time I have been using ddos-guard.net anti DDoS proxy while remaining on my current provider rockhoster.com. \

I've never run a personal website that means I've never used any ddos. But based on what you've just said it is very important to make a site run smoothly.

I chose a webhosting company that also offers me some protection because you never know. prices do not differ so much, I pay a little more for ddos protection but I feel safe.

Since I have never experienced DDoS attacks, I never have had to deal with this issue. DDOS attacks happen when your site is very popular and your competitor wants to destroy you.
