What do you feel about your forum communities friendships? Are they a close knit bunch who help each other and resolve their problems quickly and privately or do you have a forum where disputes fall out into the public domain and upset the rest of the forum?

Personally, I think this community here is one that is close knit and I don't think we have any problems with eachother! At least, I'd hope not!

I think forum friendships would be a cool thing. But lets remember something. I only say this as a generalization, usually the bigger community, the more likely there are to be problems that spill into public because there are those types out there that don't care about making problems amongst others just because they are rude, and have no problem displaying this attitude. And from what I read, they don't care because afterall its just the internet. Now on the opposite side of that scope, I would think a smaller community is more apt to have things settled in a civil manner. Like via a private message or something. With a smaller community, I'd think it would be easier for a Moderator or Admin to control problem children, like I described in my first example.

Like I said, most times it falls to this: a few people are smart, large groups of people, not so much.

The only moderation I've done here, is close a couple of suggestion threads.

There's nothing to this job, seriously. It's so strange being on a mature forum.

There's a limit when it comes to forum 'friendliness'. I mean you cannot have all people happy and being friends with each other, since most of the time in an international forum you'll have people from all over the world. But being friendly and respectful is A MUST anyway. Never accept flame wars and disrespect, since it will ruin your forums. We're not close friends in my communities (we can't be, we're countries apart), but we are helpful and respectful. That's what makes a good community in the end.

If you check my forums you will see a large number of users are also active users on other forums. That's because I am active on multiple forums and I frequently promote my forums on other communities to attract users and encourage activities. I believe in bonhomie. With the popularity of social media, forums are hardest hit so I believe we all need to come together top protect our common interest.
