What do you think are the most common reasons for online business failures? And please give practical advice to prevent making the same mistakes.

One of the common reasons why most online businesses fail is starting your business out of envy and jealousy because you don't want the person you're looking at his or her business reap the benefits alone. Such kind of person rush to start his own online copied online business with half or no information and hacked up plan. Such business is doomed to fail in its track.
 
One of the most common reasons why online businesses fail is because proper research is not always carried out some people just feel because he's working for one person it should work for them also irrespective of the location or any other reason that actually matters but was not taken into consideration.

There is a saying that if you fail to plan, you have already plan to fail which is why planning is one of the core principles that will make your business become successful if you devote enough time in it. This is because that will help me to cover everything that needs to be taken care of and make sure it all sets up in a way that it's going to be beneficial for your business to have a very good standing.
 
There are a lot of mistakes that can be made when it comes to running a business that can result in its failure.

One of the main ones I feel that is the most common is going in with the expectation that your business will blow up over night or within a few weeks. This is something that will not happen and it could take many months or even years before you see your business succeed.

Having too much expectations in a new business will put too much pressure on the business and how you manage it. It will make it very difficult to relax and take care of business. Effective advertising campaigns is crucial to the breakthrough of any online business. You can afford to take your foot off the gas with advertising your offline business but you can't do so with your online business. If you do it, your business will lose exposure and the result effect is lack of sales.

No, competition won't be considered as a reason why businesses fail online or offline. It's only businesses which have monopoly you're going to see without competition. What competition might do is reduce your business sales but it won't stop your business.

Well, every person has his or her own opinion. I believe that competition could play a very big role when it comes to success of an online business. There are many online stores and they are having a really harder time competing with other popular online stores. This also includes many local online stores as well.

Even if you're going to hire those who will work for you, you should have knowledge of the business. One who doesn't have any knowledge about a business he started, there's no way he can run influencing advertising campaigns.

I do not even know who would try to start a business without having any kind of knowledge. If you do not have any knowledge, then you may hire reliable people who may help you. This is what many people are doing. They hire many skilled people who have been part of the business before.

I have seen where some people would try to argue that someone doesn't have to be well versed in the knowledge of any business they want to do. As long as they can hire and pay those that can run and manage the business, they can venture into the said business. 99% of all businesses started that way have all ended up collapsing.

Envious people can go to that extent of starting a new business out of spite to become a competition for another person's business. They don't care if they have no knowledge about the business but as long as they become a thorn in another person's business.
