Scams happen everywhere including ETFs. Some common ETF scams include:

1. Ponzi Schemes: Fake ETFs promise high returns, using new investors' money to pay earlier investors.
2. MisrepresentationPump and Dump: Fraudsters hype a low-volume ETF, inflate its price, then sell their shares at the peak.
3. Insider Trading: Trading based on secret information about an ETF.
4. Front-Running: Brokers trade ETFs for themselves before making large client trades to profit from price changes.
5. Phantom ETFs: Nonexistent ETFs marketed to steal investors' money.
6. Fee Scams: Hidden or excessive fees that eat into investor returns.

I have been a victim of ponzi schemes scams years ago. The biggest one which I feel for was MMM. I lost more than $5k that I invested in the ponzi scheme.
