Coming up with a site design everyone likes

When designing your site, do you take your communities views in mind, or do you make your site based on your own design interests? Do you try to appease every user with a site design that works for as many people as possible? I don't think that's possible. Personally, I will design a site how I want to design it. But if people don't like it, and want it changed, I would consider taking some of their ideas for changes.

Have you ever had to change your sites design to make users happy?

I start designing the site to my liking. Then depending the amount of feedback I get, I would change it to their liking.
Answer to the question is yes, I have had to make changes for them and I am happy for it

I do not think it is possible to make everyone happy with your site design. Everyone has his or her own preference when it comes to site design. What I actually try is a design that would be possibly liked by the majority of my site visitors and regular users.
