I think you are talking about URL masking, right? URL masking refers to hiding a different link upon a link that is visible to the viewers. This is strategy is used by URL promoters to "trick" people into clicking the website. It is kind of unethical way of promoting the links.

I do put some of my links paid URL shortner to make money from the click. But the problem is that people don't get to complete the click after they see that it is URL shortner. Only few will complete the click
