Buying Clients

This quite often happens in the webhosting industry. Companies will buy clients off each other for exorbitant prices- usually 100% of what the client paid for their package. What do you think of this practice as a form of expansion? Would you ever buy clients?

and who are these clients? People like us, or other webshosting companies but smaller ones?

Well it depends. Sometimes whole companies are sold but they also may sell just shared clients, or just one servers worth of shared clients, or their vps clients or their reseller clients.... The reasoning is simply to make your hosting company bigger- but if they're paying $25 per client + they may as well give the client some freebie when ordering!
