I see a lot of people do this. They ban you for something that didn't even happen on-site. Do you think it is fair or just rude?

Depends on the severity in my eyes. I do not do this often and in fact, I think I've only done it once and that was yesterday when a member on another forum I am staff on decided to ruin my reputation and that of another member here. You can see here for more details http://www.webgurubb.com/threads/clarification.1492/ but I banned him from coming here for that due to the fact I do not wish to have a member who is so volatile, petty and malicious doing the same to any of the members here. You can troll or harass me all you want offsite but I will not ban you here but when you do something malicious like that, I do not want such an influence coming to this site.

Ah, that I can understand though.. I just don't get the people who ban you for off-site things like trolling them, harassing, etc..

Well i suppose their thinking Is that if they do it off site, they are liable to do it whilst on the site. I suppose it does depend on what they are doing/saying though.

Yeah it all depends on the context and what they are actually doing. If they are going to be a burden to your site then off with thy head!
