Banana is a free-to-play game where you click on a jpeg of a banana and nothing else, is currently sat at number 47 on Steam charts—just four ranks shy of Cyberpunk 2077, and ranking above actual videogames like Fallout 76, Diablo 4, and Slay the Spire.

The real games attached to Egg and Banana have precious little to do with the software. Instead, they have everything to do with Steam items. You might have a few of these suckers sitting in your Steam inventory as we speak—earned by playing games you own, these items can be sold on the marketplace for cash that goes into your Steam wallet, or traded 1:1.

I guess if someone gets so bored they can just click on a jpg of a banana for hours lol. I didn't know you can earn bananas by playing games on Steam and that you can sell them for money though!

This is something I had no clue about. I use Steam occasionally and have games on there that I have played a lot of but I had no clue you could sell them for money. *goes to check for bananas* 😂

There's a lot of games like this on the PS store called "Jumping insert food here". All you do is push the X button to have the object jump a certain amount of times before you get all the trophies.
