Despite making substantial investments in marketing campaigns, a lot of individuals and business fail to generate enough sales even to cover their marketing budget. Frustrated by low or non-existent conversions, they give up their marketing campaign and might even shut down the business. The key to becoming successful in marketing, you need to analyze your market, and only spend the amount that can give you enough ROI. Huge spending on ads does not always give you profits.

They could run a donation campaign to finance the project if they fall into debt since many companies are doing this practice and investors or actionnaires that support the project invest or purchase dividends but they later will impact the decision of the company since they are money lender and having some property of the company.

I do not think a business will manage to collect donation. Donation means free money and a business means something that aim to make profit. Therefore, this is out of question. One thing they can do is get investors by offering equity in the business.
