Alternate Extensions

Are you careful to buy domains of other extensions for your site (like if you own site.com, would you buy site.org and site.net and so on) so that nobody else can buy them?

Ive never worried about this because none of my sites have been big enough to worry about it. If I were buying a site for a business or something to make money then I would buy my name in most of the bigger extensions

I prefer .com extensions than any other extensions when it concerns domain. It is easy to search by visitors at first time attempt. The .com domain extension is the most popular, a lot of people don't recognized .net, .org, .in, etc.

I bought three 4 extensions for my personal website. I build my website on one domain and used redirection for other domains. Since this is so costly, I am thinking to leave three other extensions.

UNless you are a big business there is no need to buy various extension for your domain. For example, facebook can have com, org, net, info extension. However, there is no point for someone like me to get various extension.

I have started to drop alternate extensions for my primary domain. By using a couple of extensions for my primary domain, I am paying at least $40 per year just on domain renewals. For big brands this might be possible though.

I would never consider buying an alternative domain extension because this domain extensions that are alternative and not as popular as the.com domain extension wouldn't bring in much traffic to one's website

When it comes to domain extensions, it doesn't add value in bringing website traffic nor improving in the site revenue. Remember all extension are authentic in their own way.

There are a lot of domain extensions, what's a point of registering a couple of popular extensions to stop people from copying your domain name,. This is simply not possible

That is why it is important to check through list of website that could possibly look like your own incase before you register the website online so you don't have to start buying what you might not need.
