Paid posting has become popular over the years for those community owners who are looking to build up content quite quickly when they first open up.

Paid posting is a decision that is often made by the community leader and will depend on various factors, these include:

  • Target audience
  • Specific goals you have for your community
  • Your budget
  • The nature of your message or content

Target Audience

Take a look at and identify your target audience, especially where they are most active. If you find that your target audience seems to be more active on social media where paid advertising is common or even other platforms where you may find paid advertising, this may very well be a viable option to try.

Goals

Before deciding on choosing paid posting, it is wise to sit and look at your goals for posting and what you would like to achieve.

Are you looking to drive traffic to your community, boost sales within your community, generate leads or maybe even increase brand awareness?

As much as paid posting can be effective when it comes to specific goals, you do need to ensure that it fits the goals you have in mind.

Budget

When it comes to paid posting, you will find that it typically requires a budget so you should always consider whether or not you have the financial resources to be able to invest in paid promotion.

Content Quality

Paid posting is great at getting content into your community and building up that content, but that may not always be effective especially if the content posted is not of good quality.

You should ensure that the content you receive when paying for posts is relevant to your niche, tailored to your audience but also engaging to help maximize the impact of your investment.

Organic Reach

Paid posting is great when it comes to getting content into your community and providing quick visibility but you should never underestimate the power of organic reach.

Using engagement and high-quality content to build a strong organic presence can be a long-term strategy that is valuable.

Analytics and Metrics

Measure the performance of your paid campaigns by setting up a tracking mechanism. This will allow you to analyze certain metrics such as conversion rates, return on investment and click-through rates so you are able to assess how effective your strategy is.

Selecting an Ad Platform

Choosing the right advertising platform based on your target audience can greatly enhance the success of your paid campaigns. Different platforms have different types of user demographics so it is wise to look into different platforms before making a final decision.

Diversification

You should consider diversifying your marketing strategy. As much as paid posting is a valuable tool, relying only on paid methods may eventually limit your overall reach.

Using a balanced approach that includes other marketing channels, social media engagement and organic efforts can be more robust.

Conclusion

Deciding whether or not to rely on paid posting is something you have to decide and will depend on the specific goals you have and what you would like to achieve.

A versatile marketing strategy you will find often involves a mixture of organic and paid efforts to achieve the best results you are looking for.

Regularly assessing the performance of your campaigns is important and always remember to adjust your strategy accordingly if you feel something is not working as well as you hoped.

Something is not quite right if you're relying on non-native posting to stay alive. There is an otherness when people have quotas of x posts and y threads, blinking out when the cause is gone. If you want to have a soul then people need to post because they give a hoot and if there isn't a fundamentally engaging aspect or some top class consistent acting with that payment which sucks in real people, then paid posting isn't going to be the trick. I'll admit I'm a little biased against it from the start.

Paid posting doesn't insure you're going to get good quality members. Those members can easily spam up the forum with really bad quality posts and demand payment for a badly done job. I would say no.

'Rely on'? No. Use as an option to start up? Why not? As long as the quality is there its not a bad thing as long as you have the budget for it.
