So they're sandwiches because you can hold them in your hand? I still think a sandwich is food constructed with bread, meats, condiments, and vegetables but not something made out of tortillas or taco shells.

Don't agree with this at all.

In my mind, a sandwich has to have a filling between a top and a bottom piece of bread. I can maybe accept it if the bread is replaced by some other bread-like baked substance, as long as it still has the same basic structure - so, for example, I can still accept ice cream sandwiches as 'sandwiches' (or at least, an off-beat sandwich variant). But tacos, hot dogs, and other food items that have a completely different structure? No.
