Great job writing this article, I think it is a core idea of community building every forum owner should play along with.

My favorite strategy is colored usernames which is simple to implement across any forum software. Once you have a base of active members on your site simple strategies like this go a long way as people who spend time contributing want to be recognized and see their account level up.
