There are 8 broad categories of skillset for community management and leadership
  • Creating Value
  • Engagement
  • Content
  • Incentives
  • Awareness
  • Member Collaboration
  • Events
  • Leadership
Do you have successes and achievements in certain areas?

Do you have struggles and challenges in other areas?

All there 8 broad categories are very important to the success of any community. You can't leave out one thinking the rest will get the job done. Each and every one of them need to have a balance to have maximum impact towards achieving your community goals.

These 8 values are definitely important.

You could make a whole staff "handbook" based on them - pillar values of your mission if you will.

The first two are my favorite. Create value and engage!

If you tend to your audience's biggest needs and wants (value) and keep them actively discussing and asking for more help in those areas (engagement), then you'll see a very active community of loyal members.

Lots of people don't like answering the same questions repeatedly, but the admin who does has the most successful forum.

And that leads me to add the 9th skill: Patience.
