Common Foods You've Never Tried

Are there any common foods that you've never tried or just recently tried for a first time? Why haven't you tried it before?

I tried my first applesauce packet thing yesterday and was telling students how I've never had applesauce before. They were in full and utter shock. By the way I was not the biggest fan, so I'm amazed so many people enjoy it. I think I might have liked it if it was a bit more cold. I had let it sit for a bit before eating it. My family just never had it while I was growing up!

Another thing I tried for the first time in recent years because a coworker made it for me was Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! My dad was not a fan of it, so my grandma just never made it for me as she never made it for him either, and when I moved in with him he never made it either. I was surprised how much I liked it. I can't imagine only eating that at lunch though because it doesn't seem like "enough" to fill you but it is a good snack at the very least. I haven't had it since, but I'm not against having it again!

I don't have any common food that I haven't tried yet so I'll talk about an uncommon one hehe. I recently tried a mixture of different sea animals like octopus, shark, whale, fish, prawn, etc from a famous buffet restaurant here called "Absolute Barbecues". Initially, I had a very weird feeling about it but after I tasted it, I must say I really liked it. I think the sauce they mixed them with did the magic. I won't say I loved it though.

Shawarma? And it is a conscious effort not to try it. The ingredients make me run very far away from it.

There's probably a large list of fruits I've never tried, which is funny considering my father worked in produce for the longest time. I can't really think of a "common" food right off the bat that I haven't tried to this day.

Sushi, it's just never something that has appealed to me, but I would probably like it if I tried it to be fair.

I never had avocados before and honestly I don't think I ever will. They just don't look appetizing to me at all.
