Canonical Tag Usability

So the canonical tag is for when you have the same content that can be accessed multiple ways, to point at which is the definitive version.

In a forum this is typically a hangover of things like choices in user pagination for threads, so that you don't reindex multiple versions of the same content and you get to avoid duplicate content penalties from it.

Best example is website list like web directories list ...... this page name is "seo-friendly-web-directories.php" and list is according to domain authority of website. If we are not using Ajax and want to give facility to user to sort by name also ... Then we have to create one more page like "seo-friendly-web-directories--name.php" but page contents and list are same so we will use canonical tag here to let search engine know that this page "seo-friendly-web-directories--name.php" is duplicate of main page "seo-friendly-web-directories.php".

We just write on same topic few days before ... So you can read more at What is Canonical Tag and Its Usability?
