How to Advertise Your Website or Forum
Now that you have created your forum, added your own theme/style and made it more personal. You have your categories, forums and nodes in order, you're done. Nope.

There's a lot more work to be done. You're probably thinking, "Shouldn't members join my forum? What else needs to be done?" All good questions with one simple answer. Advertise. How else are people going to find your forum. With a magic wand? Wouldn't bet on it. Successful ways to advertise your board include:

1. Signature Advertising: Putting a banner in your signature on other forums. Joining conversations with members, getting to know them, slowly leading them to your website or forum. Networking as it's called in the business world. It's one of the most important and effective way of advertising your website, forum or business
2. Advertisement Forums: If other forums have sections to help you advertise your forum, take advantage & submit. They are there for a reason. Use it! Any lead can generate a good member.
3. Forum Reviews: Everyone likes to read some review about a forum and generates traffic.
4. Affiliation: Set up a partnership with fellow webmasters, exchange affiliates. Have your affiliate button on their forum and vice versa.
5. Search Engines: Submitting your forum to search engines. It's quick to submit your website, so why risk search engines not finding it?
6. Word of mouth: Let your friends know about your site or forum.

Even after all this, never stop advertising. That's very important. Try being active on other peoples forums with your banner in your signature & soon people will take you seriously as an admin & check out and join your forum. Having members of your board including your board banner in their signature on other forums they go to is a 5 star tip. Works very well by getting members to check out your board because if members see it enough, they'll get curious & check it out. I know this because, when I see a nice appealing banner, I will click it.
